When I moved from the City of Norwich to the small town of Putnam in 1988, I never thought I would have ended up to be a volunteer firefighter. Nor did I expect to go back to Norwich 12yrs later, as a 911 dispatcher at American Ambulance. After 6 years at American, I scored my dream job at Quinebaug Valley 911. Join me as I ramble on about the fire service, ems, dispatching, and many other topics in today's society. Who knows, you may even get bit by the volunteer bug also.
It's been a long weekend trying to keep Hayleigh entertained, especially with the weather being so miserable, but we had a good time just the same. I really didn't get much sleep last night and was up throughout the day today before coming to work, so I'm having a tough time thinking about a post.
So I thought I'd post the video that two of our members made of my fire department. I think for their first time, they did a great job! I figured I wasn't going to be in it, seeing that I've only been on East Putnam since May of this year, but it was the year in review so far and I was surprised to see me in several shots. I'm hoping to make my own video eventually, when I feel I get enough photos or video clips. Enjoy and feel free to leave comments, positive or negative...
I'm tall, and built like Will Farrell, without the crazy chest hairs. I've been a volunteer fireman since I was 18, and recently resigned from my old department as an Engine Co. Captain, to join another department as a probationary member or "probie" and I'm happy with it. I'm a Conan O'Brien, and Obama fan. I love stupid comedies, like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, and obviously Will Farrell movies.. Top Gun will always be my favorite, and even though they're fake and unrealistic as heck, I enjoy Backdraft and Ladder 49.. Can't think of anything else for now..
